Please join us this Saturday (Sept. 9th) at the Worden Community Park for the 6th Annual Patriots Day Celebration and Fireworks. It's a celebration to honor Police Officers, Fire Fighters, Active Duty, Veterans and the general public who have all sacrificed something after 9/11.
The event kicks off at 9:00am with the 2nd Annual Worden Patriots Day 5K. You can still register online https://runsignup.com/Race/IL/Worden/WordenPatriotsDay5k Proceeds from the race benefit - The I AM ME Burn Camp for Kids and Team Sweet Melissa!
The park will open at 11am. Events designed for the entire family will be going on all day including - Kids Zone w/ Face Painting, a Magician and Bounce Houses. The Worden Fire Department will be on hand to welcome the ARCH Helicopter this year! This will be a great opportunity to get a close up look at the life-saving helicopter and its crew. The Village will be selling BBQ throughout the day, which includes Ribs, Brisket, Pork Steaks and Pulled Pork. Soda and Water will be available for purchase. This is a BYOB event for those 21 and over.
There will be a Wiffleball and Horseshoe Tournament. From 4pm to 6pm there will be Live Music with the acoustic band Midlife. Then at 7pm the popular group AGENT 99 will be on the main stage until 10pm. The Boy Scout Flag Retirement Ceremony will be conducted at 6:30pm. If you would like to retire your flag, please drop off at Village Hall or bring with you. The day ends with a specular Fireworks Display at dusk. I want to thank everyone that supported the Village Mouse Races this year. You made this year’s display possible!
We are proud to be in the 6th year of this event. It is a great day to not only remember those who lost their lives on 9/11, but also celebrate today's men and women that dedicate their lives to serving and protecting others.
