About this event

These yoga postures and body awareness exercises will rock you to your core – in a good way! No crunches here. In this workshop we’ll go beyond “sit-ups” to explore yoga postures that call into play our core muscles and discover how developing our core integrity brings us stability and strength on and off the mat.

 

Why focus on the core?

This workshop will include:
• a review of the anatomy of the core (it’s more than those “6-pack abs”)
• exercises to bring awareness to the abdominal muscles so you understand which muscles you should be using.

• practice and discussion of certain core stabilization/strengthening techniques as they relate to specific postures
• a short flow of yoga postures to incorporate the principles presented in the workshop

Handouts will be provided to take home

* This is the first session in The Body Shop, a year-long series of workshops focusing on key areas of the body. Upcoming workshops will target the hips, back and shoulders.
