AALA is dedicated to educating, promoting, and saving the architectural heritage of the Alton area. AALA sponsors the annual Fall Historic House Tour and is renovating the 140 year old Hart House located at 522/524 Belle Street. The Hart House was on the city demolition list when it was acquired by AALA. AALA also spearheaded the "Save City Hall" campaign.
General membership meetings are the third Monday of the month at the Hart House, 524 Belle Street, Alton, IL. These meetings are free and open to the public. There is a brief business meeting, refreshments, and a guest speaker. Please note that there are some months where a general meeting is not held.
