In her new role, Nixon will oversee the village’s human resource activities, including recruitment, retention, compensation, benefits, employee records, human relations, training, compliance, and policy implementation and enforcement.

Nixon comes to the position with experience in the health care sector, including workforce planning and forecasting, advising leaders on interviewing and hiring, employment law, negotiations, compensation strategy, employee coaching, HR policy management, and data analysis and reporting.

“HR is a people-centered profession. I gain energy by interacting with others, building relationships and helping people solve problems. I enjoy creating a workspace where people feel supported and respected. Each day is different, whether I am working on recruiting, handling employee relations, developing policies, or working on initiatives; it allows me to collaborate with others.

"I look forward to supporting the Village’s employees and being a public servant to the residents of Godfrey,” Nixon said.

A graduate of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, Nixon began her career at St. Clare’s Acute Rehab in marketing and admissions. After the consolidation of St. Clare’s and St. Anthony’s OSF in 2016, she moved into human resources.

Early in that work, she focused on talent acquisition of nurses. She also worked for the BJC system across multiple facilities in the St. Louis region. Before joining the Village of Godfrey, she worked at Lumeris, a physician-first health care transformation company based in St. Louis.

The village said Nixon has ties to the community. She attended St. Ambrose Grade School and Lewis and Clark Community College, and earned her bachelor’s degree from SIUE.

Outside of work, Nixon is the mother of two sons. She and her husband, Scott, own and operate Nixon Service Repair/NSR, which specializes in agricultural equipment service and repair. She is also an officer in St. Ambrose Grade School’s Parent Association.

Mayor Mike McCormick said he is excited to have Nixon on his staff and expects her to do an “outstanding job.”
