JERSEYVILLE – A suspect is now in custody facing major felony charges in the case of an occupied vehicle shooting in Jerseyville.
Casey C. McGee Jr., 27, of Jerseyville, was charged on Sept. 23, 2026 with four Class X felony counts of attempted first degree murder, a Class 1 felony count of aggravated discharge of a firearm at an occupied vehicle and four Class 4 felony counts of aggravated assault/discharge firearm.

On Sept. 21, 2026, McGee allegedly fired a Ruger 9mm semi-automatic handgun into a vehicle occupied by three people, including a 3-month-old minor.
McGee reportedly fired the weapon while standing outside a residence located in the 100 block of Curtis Street in Jerseyville. Charging documents state he “solicited, aided or abetted others during the commission of this offense.”
An official with the Jersey County Circuit Clerk’s Office confirmed a second individual involved in this incident is a juvenile, with no further information about the second suspect made publicly available.
The Jerseyville Police Department previously announced none of the four vehicle occupants were struck or injured by gunfire during the incident. McGee and the juvenile suspect were taken into custody within an hour of officers being dispatched to a “shots fired” report on Curtis Street.
The department previously stated each of the individuals involved “were known to one another, and there is currently no known danger to the community related to this incident.”
McGee currently remains in custody at the Jersey County Jail.
All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
