Richard L. Collins, of Alton, passed away at his residence at 11:55 am, on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.
He was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on April 13, 1950, the son of William and Doris (Simpson) Collins.
Richard served his country in the United States Air Force.
Richard graduated from SIUE with a bachelor's degree in Accounting and an Associates in Computer Science. He was a member of the East Side Computer Club, an avid comic book collector, enjoyed watching old movies, and video games.
Richard is survived by his siblings, David (Diana) Collins of Belleville, Donald Collins of Rimrock, AZ, Carol Wells of Douglass, TX, Cheryl Collins of Bloomington, Bryan Collins of East Alton, Barry Collins of Heringen, Germany, and Cathleen (Mark) Wesemann of Belleville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and great-nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Raymond and John Collins.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 3, 2024 from 4 pm until time of funeral service at 7 pm, at Elias, Kallal, & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton IL, with Pastor Terry McKinzie officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded following the funeral service and inurnment will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery on Friday May 10, 2024.
