The Board of Trustees meets on the first and third Tuesdays of the month. Trustees are charged with the responsibility of establishing Village policies, enacting municipal laws, and overall approval of the conduct of municipal business matters.

The Alton City Council meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month. City Council makes laws, budgets City money, can investigate City agencies and employees, and generally serves as the legislative division of the municipal government.

The Committee of the Whole meets on the second and fourth Monday of every month. They audit all bills, review all bids, consider property tax abatement for industrial firms, and manage the Municipal Band.
