In a public hearing last week in Wood River, a proposed wedding venue development at Belk Park by Knotting Hills Wedding & Event Venue has been cancelled. This decision came after 17 residents spoke against the project, leading to the developers' withdrawal. The mayor, Tom Stalcup, expressed disappointment and clarified that some of the opposition involved "threats and personal attacks" towards the developers. Despite this setback, he hopes that the situation won't affect the town's reputation as a business and development friendly municipality. He also appreciated those who participated in the Planning Commission meeting and reminded residents that all meetings are open to the public.
