The River Bend Growth Association celebrated a ribbon cutting for Senior Services Plus’ (SSP) new greenhouse. The greenhouse, located behind the SSP building, will supply hydroponically grown leafy vegetables directly to SSP’s kitchen. In addition plant like radishes, tomatoes, cucumbers and herbs will be started from seed and then transferred to raised beds located past the back parking lot.
Executive Director John Becker said that the greenhouse project benefits SSP by providing it with healthy organic food for its clients as well as reducing the organization’s overall food costs.
