Joell Aguirre, Director of Member Services for the River Bend Growth Association (RBGA), presided over a ribbon cutting celebrating the merging between Bell Community Credit Union and GCS Credit Union. The former Bell Community Credit Union, located at 4105 Humber Road in Alton, will operate under the GCS name and provide a convenient new location for the over one thousand GCS customers who live in the Alton/Godfrey area as well as expanding GCS’ reach into north eastern Madison County.
When Aguirre asked how the merger came about, GCS Credit Union CEO Keith Burton said “Credit Unions have been around a long time, and Bell Credit Union’s been around for about 80 years. Due to different circumstances….a lot of times credit unions have a hard time facing regulations so they look for a strong partner to further their existence; we’re happy and excited that they picked GCS Credit Union. We feel we are a very good fit.” Addition of the Alton location brings the number of GCS locations to 8.
Jon Norman, a familiar face within the former Bell Community Credit Union, will act as Branch Manager and is excited about the how the new relationship will expand the financial service offerings to the area.
