RBGA Cuts Ribbon for Midwest Members Credit Union

Midwest Members Credit Union is a new name in local banking. Formerly Shell Community Federal Credit Union, the name change reflects changes both in the financial institution and the community which it serves.
Shell built its refinery in Wood River in 1917 and Shell Community Federal Credit Union opened to serve the refinery workers and their families in 1935. The last two and a half decades saw the Shell Wood River Refinery, through a string of mergers, joint ventures and sales, transition to ConocoPhillips.
With the recent expansion of its charter to include other communities in Madison County, the Credit Union thought it was time for a name change.

Watch the Riverbend Growth Association’s ribbon cutting and listen to Midwest Members Credit Union President/CEO Greg Lyons explain his thoughts on the name change.
