Mine Collapse at Alton's Gordon Moore Park Soccer Field

A mine collapse early Wednesday, June 26, 2024, caused significant damage to the main soccer field at Gordon Moore Park in Alton. Alton Park and Recreation Director Michael Haynes confirmed the incident. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. Representatives from New Frontier, the group responsible for the mine, are on the scene, along with multiple City of Alton personnel.
