A new business and new member of the Riverbend Growth Association, Mosquito Joe of Madison County, was honored with a ribbon cutting by the Riverbend Growth Association on Monday morning at Homer Adams Park in Godfrey, Illinois. The ceremony was held at the park to allow Technician Simeon Bradshaw to demonstrate how treatment of a yard is performed.
Business owner James Newcomer, said that Mosquito Joe can usually be onsite and applying mosquito control barrier spray treatment within 48-hours of being called. Applying the spray usually takes about 20 minutes and, after allowing half an hour for the spray to dry, the yard is ready for family and pets to play on. All the barrier spray chemicals used by Mosquito Joe are synthetic forms of pyrethrins called pyrethroids. Pyrethrins are insecticides that are derived from a naturally occurring compound called pyrethrum found in the chrysanthemum flower. Pyrethroids are used in numerous commercial products that consumers use to control insects pet shampoos and sprays, and even lice shampoos applied directly to the scalp. The standard barrier spray treatment is effective on other pests such as fleas, ticks and some flies as well.
