The city of Edwardsville is spearheading a community-wide capital campaign to help raise funds to aid in the development of three major parks and recreation projects totaling $12 million in total development costs – a Spray & Play park, Ice Rink and Teen Center and a state-of-the-art Sports Park for baseball, softball and soccer. A combination of private funding, corporate sponsorships, community partnerships, grant funding and City capital improvement funds will be used to fund each project. Details of each project will be released at the press conference as well as the location of the future Spray & Play Park, one of the projects already partially funded by grant dollars. Each of the projects under consideration will help strengthen the community and families they serve, provide more opportunities for area citizens to improve their health and build stronger family bonds, combat obesity and add to the quality of life of everyone, regardless of age, race or socioeconomics.
