Mildred Ida Simmons, 87, passed away 8:56 pm Friday September 12, 2014 at her home in Bethalto.
She was born April 16, 1927 in Omphgent Township in Madison County the daughter of Henry & Alma (Hillebrand) Zinschlag.
She married Herbert C. Simmons on August 15, 1953 and he preceded her in death on February 16, 1974.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Harvey & JoJo Zinschlag of Kokomo, IN; a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela & Carl Hill of Harlingen, TX; two step-sons and step daughters-in-law, Phillip & Rhonda Simmons of Mt. Vernon, IL and Don & Sharon Simmons of Niceville. FL; a sister-in-law, Violet Zinschlag of Prairietown; seven grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Irene Wilder, and Gloria Mae Zinschlag; one brother, Walter W. Zinschlag, a step-son, Herbert “Gary” Simmons; and a special friend, Richard Blotevogel.
Visitation will be from 9:30 am until time of Funeral Services at 11:00 am Wednesday September 17, 2014 at Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto with Pastor Mark Hofferber officiating.
Burial will follow at Prairietown Cemetery.
