Dale Gunther Dietel, 65, died at 12:14 p.m. Monday, July 23, 2012 at his home. Born June 19, 1947 in Alton, he was the son of Betty June (Mansholt) Dietel of Godfrey and the late Gunther Bruno Dietel. He served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He was a district manager for Central Hardware for 25 years. Along with his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Megan Dietel of Kansas City, two sons, James (Kristen) Dietel of Memphis, TN, and Danny Dietel of Memphis, TN, two grandchildren, Jacob and Olivia Dietel, and a sister, Nancy Dietel of Alton. He was preceded in death by his father. Private services will be held at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Reverend Steve Rice will officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey with military rites by the VFW Post 1308. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
