James Edward Malloy, 64, died at 3:34 p.m., Monday, May 7, 2012 at Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville after a period of declining health. He was born in Jerseyville on June 12, 1947, and was one of six children born to the late Robert O. & Eva Lena (Ritter) Malloy.Jim graduated in 1966 from Jersey Community High School, and was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served overseas during the Vietnam War.For many years, Jim was employed as a salesman at Jersey County Motors in Jerseyville, and later became a cook at the former Greenwood Manor West Nursing Home.  He also assisted as a daytime bartender at Sammy's Lounge as well as volunteer bartender at various clubs in town.He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Jerseyville American Legion Post 492, where he has served as their past commander, and just enjoyed being around family and friends having a good time and taking joyrides.He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, and musically, loved the Rolling Stones, The Doors, Pink Floyd, and would watch anything with John Wayne or Clint Eastwood, Three Stooges, M*A*S*H, or the Jackson Barrett Auctions.Surviving are his wife, Kathy (Madson) Malloy of Jerseyville; two daughters & sons in law, Kelly & Mike Plummer of Kane, and Jennifer & Greg Rawe of Jerseyville; four grandchildren, Bailey & Kaylee Plummer of Kane, and Myra & Gabriel Rawe of Jerseyville; a sister, Sharon Shanks of Jerseyville; a brother & sister in law, Tom & Janet Malloy of Altus, Ok.; numerous nieces and nephews, including those local, Marsha Lott, Patty Sweeney both of Jerseyville, Tom Malloy of Godfrey, Mike Malloy of Jerseyville, and Jera Stobaugh of Altus, Ok; great nieces and nephews and their spouses, DeWayne & Cheryl Lott of Jerseyville, Adam & Beth Lott of Otterville, Ryan Lott of Marion, Kristy Lott of Jerseyville, Natasha & Tim Harmon  and Alexis Sweeney all of Jerseyville; great great nephews and a niece, Walker & Mason Lott and Samantha & Hayden Lott.He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles Eugene  Malloy & Robert A. Malloy, and Terrence Joseph Malloy in infancy; a brother in law, Paul "Sam" Shanks Sr.; and a nephew, Paul "Sammy" Shanks Jr.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where a rosary will be recited at 4 p.m.A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Friday at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville with Father William Hembrow officiating.Burial will be in the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery in Jerseyville, with the Jerseyville American Legion Post 492 conducting military graveside rites.Memorials may be given to the St. Francis/Holy Ghost Catholic Schools of Jerseyville or to the American Cancer Society.
