Timothy R. Coates, age 31, passed away at 9:40 pm Friday, March 9, 2012 at Alton Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on November 14, 1980 in Alton, the son of Larry R. and Nancy (Corwin) Coates.
He was a participant in the College of Life at Lewis and Clark Community College in Godfrey. He was a member of the St. John United Church of Christ in Wood River. Tim was a loyal Rams football fan, he loved listening to rock music and going to concerts and liked to ride his bike. When he made a friend it was a friend for life.
Tim is survived by his parents, one sister Christina Tucker of East Alton, three aunts Virginia Coates of KS, Donna Coates of KY, Diane and spouse Jim Davis of MO, three uncles Tom Coates of IL, David Corwin of IL, Michael and spouse Paula Corwin of IL, two nephews Tyler Coates, Jared Tucker, one niece Brianna Tucker, his girlfriend Tonya Kenshalo, best friends forever Katie Hunt, Dewayne Wells and numerous cousins and friends
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Robert and Shirley Coates, maternal grandparents Clarence and Fern Corwin one uncle Dan Corwin, one aunt Mary Corwin and one cousin Tony Corwin.
Per his wishes Cremation Rites will be accorded.
Memorial service will be 10:00 am Tuesday March 13, 2012 at St. John United Church of Christ in Wood River with Rev. Mike Southcombe officiating.
Memorials may be directed to St. John United Church of Christ in Tim’s name.
