Born March 13, 1921 in West Frankfort, Ill., she was the daughter of Edward and Wilhemina (Stratman) Carter.
She married Sam J. Marmino May 25, 1971 in Alton. He survives.
A member of the Community Church of Christ in Wood River, Dorothy inspired her family and friends with an amazing talent for cooking. She served as a chef for Holiday Inn in Alton for many years. She loved her family above all else and was a devoted homemaker. No family birthday or anniversary escaped Dorothy's attention, and the parties she gave for them are legendary among all who loved her. She created a beautiful home for her beloved husband, Sam, and will be missed immeasurably.
In addition to Sam, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Barbara Thomas of Live Oak, Tex.; a granddaughter, Nicki Thomas-Reno; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, brothers- and sisters-in-law and many friends.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights, where services will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 28.
Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
