Sharon K. Lelly, nee Hoeffken, 72, of Columbia, IL, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in Saint Louis, MO. Born on Tuesday, October 20, 1953, at Saint Mary’s Hospital in East Saint Louis, IL, she lived a life defined by professional dedication, active community engagement, and a deep love for her family and friends.

Sharon built a distinguished career in the financial sector, dedicating over 30 years to AG Edwards on the municipal bond trading desk. She attained the title of Vice President before her well-earned retirement in 2008. Her long tenure at the firm was marked by a sharp intellect, an unwavering work ethic, and the genuine care she extended to her colleagues over the years. Outside of her professional endeavors, she was a proud member of the Belleville Moose Lodge #1221.

Beyond her career and civic life, Sharon found immense joy in her personal passions. She had a profound love of gardening, often spending her hours outdoors cultivating beautiful, welcoming spaces that reflected her vibrant spirit. She also cherished her routine of swimming at the YMCA in Columbia, an activity that was just as much about sharing laughs and creating treasured memories with her dear friends as it was about staying active. At home, her warm heart was perhaps most evident in the deep affection she had for her beloved cats, Ziva and Tommy, who brought her daily comfort and joy.

She was preceded in death by her:

Visitation: Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville, IL.

Services: A Memorial Service will immediately follow visitation at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Michael Webb officiating. Interment will take place at Valhalla Gardens of Memory-Belleville, IL. A celebration of Sharon’s life will be held at Tim & Joe’s Tavern in Belleville immediately following the interment.
