James "Jim" T. Ross, 75, of Bethalto, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
He was born on August 27, 1951, in Cairo, IL, the son of James C. and Louise A. (Deal) Ross. Jim spent the last 58 years married to the love of his life, Lorraine A. (Shook) Ross. They married on August 26, 1968, in St. Louis, MO. She survives.
After working over 30 years as a carpenter for Local Union Hall # 377, he retired in 2004. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, watching NASCAR, and listening to music, especially the blues. Jim was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs. He loved his dogs, Sparky and Maggie Mae, but more so he loved his family, and was very proud of his children and grandchildren.
Along with his wife, Lorraine, he is survived by his children, Linette (Jim) Pipkin of Holiday Shores, and Shane A. Ross of East Alton; sisters, Sherrie (Phillip) Mabus of Shipman, Kathy (Vincent) Halley of Bethalto, and Pam (Dennis) Krocker of Bethalto; grandchildren, Sydni (Jordan) Dellamano, Saige (Jon) Young, Baleigh Gehrs (fiance Vante Wooldridge), Camryn Gehrrs, Shane Ross, and Tate Ross; great-grandchildren, Quinn, Palmer, Brooks, and Cruse; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside service will be on Monday, September 28, 2026, at 2 pm, at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Pastor Matt Hale will officiate.
