Shui “Suzie” Fisher, née Hsiao, 79, of Pontoon Beach, Illinois, passed away at 12:30 AM on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at her home with her loving family by her side. Suzie was born December 25, 1946 in Taiwan to Sun-Zhao and Chao (Sun) Hsiao.
Suzie met George Dovillo Fisher while he was stationed at Naha Air Base in Okinawa, Japan in the spring of 1966. After a whirlwind courtship, the two fell in love and were married on July 29, 1966, at the American Embassy in Taipei, Taiwan.
Suzie and George lived overseas for the first several years of their marriage before settling in Pontoon Beach, Illinois in 1978. Over the years, Suzie and George built a family and shared nearly four decades of marriage. They enjoyed traveling together, setting out on road trips, and sightseeing across the country.
After George passed away on May 22, 2006, Suzie carried on the life they had built together, finding comfort in the simple pleasures of home. She worked as a server and, in her free time, loved to cook and crochet. She was a devoted and loving mother who cherished her sons and the family they shared. Suzie will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
Suzie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; and a sister.
Suzie leaves to cherish her memory two devoted sons, Donovan Danny Fisher of Pontoon Beach, and John Gary (Carol) Fisher of Collinsville; her nephew, Kevin Fisher; her sister, Shun-Ying; her brother, Sun-Zhao; and many extended relatives and friends.
Suzie will be laid to rest at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, where she will be reunited with George.
