Carol Jean Manns, 85, loving sister, aunt and friend, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.
Carol was born on August 6, 1941, in Alton, IL to Adam and Dorothy (Kenney) Manns.
She was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where she attended grade school. She attended Marquette Catholic High School, and later graduated from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Carol worked for St. Louis County for over 30 years, retiring in 1995. She spent much of her retired time volunteering at St. Mary’s as an assistant Sacristan, counting weekly offerings, and at St. Mary’s Oktoberfest. In her free time, she loved reading, learning, spending time outside doing yard work, and spending time with her family.
Carol is survived by her sister, Mary Lou Horn, sister-in-law, Sylvia Manns, brother-in-law, William Rath, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, John Terrance Manns and Vincent Neal Manns, sister, Virginia Rath, brother-in-law, Charles Horn, and nephew, Brian Manns.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Elias Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, IL.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton, IL.
Inurnment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Alton, IL at a later date.
