Ervin J. Thien, 75, passed away August 24, 2026 at Nexus of Wood River, surrounded by family.
Born May 24, 1951 in Wood River, he was the son of Ervin A. and Lestine M. (French) Thien.
A U.S. Air Force, Vietnam veteran, he had worked as a programmer for Citi Financial/Citi Group Corporation for 30 years before retiring.
On August 4, 1979 in Alton, he married Julia Weihe. She died March 23, 2015.
Surviving are two daughters, Jill Ellis of East Peoria, IL, Andrea (Jonathan) Bolitho of Melborne, FL; four grandchildren, Chayton and Audrey Ellis, Caleb and Nolan Bolitho; two brothers, Leslie "Wayne" (Becky) Thien of St. Louis, Douglas Thien of Wood River; and a sister-in-law, Debbie Thien of Wood River.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Eric Thien; and sister-in-law, Rosella Thien.
Visitation will be from 9:30 am until time of service at 11 am, Saturday, August 29 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River. Pastor Adrian Das will officiate.
Burial will follow in Woodland Hill Cemetery.
