Megan L. McGuire, 43, of East Alton, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.

She was born on August 2, 1983, in Alton, IL, the daughter of Walter E. McGuire and Kimberlee A. (Meisenheimer).

After earning her associate’s degree in nursing, Megan dedicated many years of her life to caring for others as a nurse. She found her specialty in emergency nursing and later continued her calling through hospice care. Caring for others wasn’t simply what Megan did for a living-it was at the very heart of who she was.

Megan had a heart of gold and a rare gift for making people feel cared for, loved, and never alone. Her life revolved around being there for others, whether they were family, a friend, a patient, or simply someone who needed her. To know Megan was to love her, and the kindness, compassion, and love she gave so freely left a lasting mark on countless lives.

Along with her mother, Kimberlee, she is survived by a daughter, Honora McGuire; four sisters and a brother, Tonya (Gary) Gresham, Molly McGuire, Hannah Moore, Abby Moore (Marie Jones), and Brad Moore (Julie Bruns); nieces and nephews, Dylan Wolf, Drake Petty, Ryleigh Gresham, and Kinleigh Gresham; and aunts and uncles, Robert (Teresa) Meisenheimer, Brett (Susan) Meisenheimer, Everett (Fran) McGuire, Naomi Wyatt and Hazel Antson, as well as, several close friends and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her father, Walter; maternal grandparents, Robert and Leota Meisenheimer; paternal grandparents, Bert and Louise McGuire; an aunt, Vicki Jill Ebert; and her beloved nephew, Dominic Green.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 17, 2026, from 4 pm until time of service at 6 pm, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Ken Buttry will officiate.

Memorials are suggested to her mother, Kimberlee Moore, for funeral expenses and/or an educational fund for Megan's daughter, Honora.
