Candace Gayle “Candee” (Cain) Damron, 61, of Granite City, passed away at 2:29 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur.

She was born July 29, 1964, in Granite City, the daughter of Carolyn (Sabo) Cain and the late Kenneth Cain. She married Joseph W. “Joe” Damron on November 4, 2013, in Glen Carbon, and he survives.

Candee was employed with R.P. Lumber in Edwardsville, where she dedicated four years of service in Accounts Payable. She was a member of Granite City First and found joy in life’s simple pleasures — especially her love for animals, beading, and coloring. Candee will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor and the warmth she brought to those around her. The love and special moments she shared with family and friends will be cherished always.

In addition to her beloved husband and mother, she is survived by her stepmother, Gail Lipe; four stepchildren, Waylon Damron, Joseph R. Damron, Amanda K. Damron, and Jaramie A. Damron; many step-grandchildren; two half-sisters, Amy Lipe and Sarah Werner; a sister-in-law, Wendy Fisher; two nieces, Danni Coburn and Raylynn Johnson; and many extended family members and friends.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Stout, and her brother, Steven Cain.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be held at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, on Friday, February 27, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until the time of a memorial service at 7:00 p.m.

In lieu of floral tributes, memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.irwinchapel.com.
