Francis “Frank” Vincent Romano, 82, of Brighton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at his home with his beloved wife by his side.

He was born on June 2, 1943, in Alton, the son of the late Vincent Joseph and Joan Rose (Alben) Romano.

Frank graduated from Ranken Technical College in St Louis and spent his career working as a field engineer for IBM for over 30 years. He was very mechanically inclined, being able to fix anything. He enjoyed woodworking, winemaking, and hunting and collecting arrowheads, but most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He married Nancy “Nan” Reif on December 2, 1972, in Alton, she survives.

Together they have three children, Daniel (Brooke) Romano of McComb, Douglas (Suzanne) Romano of Edwardsville, and David (Rebecca) Romano of Brighton; five grandchildren Daniella (Jacob) Scheibal, Gabriella (Thomas) Giacobbe, Francesco "Franky" Romano, Skyler and Reigha Romano; great grandson Dean Jacob Scheibal and great granddaughter, Adelina Josephina Giacobbe due in March; sister Anita Oertel.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents; brother Mike (Sandy) Romano; sister Lucia (George) McNear; brother in law Harry Oertel.

Per his wishes cremation rites have been accorded and entrusted to Anderson Family Funeral Home in Brighton.

The Family will be hosting a Celebration of Life on February 15, 2026, from 1:00 p.m.to 5:00 p.m. at the Brighton Municipal Building
