Donna Elaine Martinez, 81, of Granite City, Illinois, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, surrounded by love.

Born on February 1, 1944, in Alton, Illinois, to the late Joe and Vera (Hargus) Martinez, Donna lived a life filled with grace, laughter, and an endless devotion to her family.

A woman of deep Catholic faith, Donna carried kindness and joy wherever she went. She was a proud and loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose warmth touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. She had a zest for life — one that showed through her love of dancing to lively Mexican music, preparing homemade meals that brought family together, and creating beauty both through her work as a talented beautician and through her gentle spirit. Her greatest joy was found in family gatherings, where she delighted in spoiling her grandchildren, Amelia and Carlo, who were truly the light of her life.

Donna’s caring heart, quick smile, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all whose lives she brightened.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Joe and Vera Martinez, and her dear siblings, Juanita Wilhold and Bob Martinez.

Left to cherish her memory are her devoted son, Richard Mendoza of Granite City, Illinois; her cherished grandchildren, Amelia and Carlo Mendoza; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends whose lives she enriched.

A memorial visitation will be held in celebration of Donna’s life from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Irwin Chapel in Granite City, with a memorial service to follow at 7:00 p.m., with Father Stephen Thompson officiating.
