Janet M. Farmer, 87, of Jerseyville, IL, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 5, 2025.
She was born on December 27, 1937, to Henry and Mary (Stoekel) Schmuck.
Janet married Jerry Farmer on April 12, 1958, at St. Matthew's Church in Alton. He preceded her in death on December 25, 2020.
A graduate of Marquette High School, Janet later worked as a claims processor for Liberty Mutual. She was an avid reader who loved getting lost in a good book. Janet also enjoyed playing cards and was an active member of her local card club. Most of all, she cherished time spent with family and friends, creating memories filled with laughter and love.
Janet is survived by three sons, Bradley (Diane) Farmer of Alton, IL, Brian (Julie) Farmer of Punta Gorda, FL, and Boyd (Lenore) Farmer of Westmont, IL; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Donald Schmuck.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and her sisters Deloris Jones, and Lorraine Yavorski.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation rites were accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home has been entrusted with professional services.
Memorials are suggested to the Boy Scouts of America-Greater St. Louis Area Council.
