Richard Leon “Rich” Gosnell, 87, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 8:47 a.m. on Friday, July 11, 2025, at Evercare of Lebanon.
He was born November 26, 1937, in Granite City, Illinois, a son of the late Otis E. and Gladys (Lowe) Gosnell.
He married Loretta M. (Sutt) Gosnell on July 27, 1957, at the First Assembly of God Church in Granite City and she survives.
Rich retired from Boeing in St. Louis after 42 years of dedicated service in budget and manpower with McDonnell Douglas. He also worked as a tax preparer for 35 years. He was a faithful member of Heritage Church in Granite City and active with I.L.L.M.O. throughout the years. He enjoyed reading and watching the St. Louis Cardinals baseball and was a collector of model classic cars and NASCAR. He will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.
In addition to his beloved wife of nearly 68 years, he is survived by a granddaughter, Jennifer (Daryn) Strong of Granite City; four great grandchildren, Sebastian (Leigha) Sronce of Granite City, Alex Sronce of Granite City, Dylan McMichael of Chicago and Natalee (Luke) Janisch of North Carolina; two great grandchildren, Esme and Scott; numerous nieces and nephews; other extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Martin E. Gosnell; a brother, Otis “Bud” Gosnell and a sister, Peggy Morelan.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Thursday, July 17, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Visitation will continue at Heritage Church, 3716 Ruth Drive in Granite City on Friday, July 18, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until time of a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Greg Dickerman and Sebastian Sronce will officiate.
Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery on Maryville Road in Granite City.
