Ervin Kenneth Hargis, known to family and friends alike as Bart, passed peacefully on July 6, 2023 at home in Chevy Chase, Maryland at the age of 88. Born on August 20, 1934, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to Amos Edward Hargis and Bertha Henrietta Ervin Hargis. He was their youngest child and only son.
Bart enlisted in the Missouri National Guard from 1952 to 1955 and the Army Reserves from 1956 to 1958. He retired from the Alton Steel Company, Alton, Illinois in 1985.
Bart is survived by his wife, Roslyn, his sons Edward Ervin Hargis and John Anthony Hargis; daughters Kathy Renae Monroe and Emily Rose Hargis-Wells; and proceeded in death by his sisters Ama Young, Kathleen Hargis, and Charlotte “Pat” Perry as well as his son a Kenneth Hargis Knight.
