Marlo Charmaine (Reazer) Gaddo died September 15, 2024 at Viking Manor Nursing Home in Ulen, Minnesota. She lived 95 extraordinary years, just four days shy of her 96th birthday on September 19, 2024.
Marlo is survived by her children, John C. (Nancy North) Gaddo, Lanesboro, Minn., and Marlo A. (Willliam) Janson, Fargo, N. Dak.; sister Coral Joan Reinert, Elgin, Ill.; five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; and former daughter-in-law Barb Gaddo, Monticello, Minn. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, John James Gaddo.
Marlo was born on September 19, 1928 in Chicago, Ill. to Chester O. and Marlo M. Reazer. After moving from Chicago, the Reazer family settled in Elgin, Ill. where Marlo graduated from high school in 1946; she attended Illinois College in Jacksonville, Ill. graduating with a degree in economics/accounting and math. Following college she worked as an accountant, and in 1951 married her college sweetheart, John James Gaddo, formerly of Benld.
After living in Mendota, Ill., Springfield, Ill., and Coralville (Iowa City), Iowa, the Gaddo family moved to Columbus, Wisc. Marlo was committed to being a loving mother and homemaker, and was later employed as an accountant and tax preparer for the Callahan & Arnold law firm in Columbus.
The Gaddos were active and dedicated members of the United Methodist Church in Columbus; Marlo also enjoyed many hours playing cards with her Bridge groups, neighborhood visits, and traveling with her sister. One of Marlo’s true joys was making printed cards for friends and relatives to let them know she was thinking of them. In 2013 Marlo moved to At Home Again assisted living in Columbus; following a diagnosis of dementia, she moved to Minnesota in 2015 to be near her kids.
Marlo’s family will be forever grateful for the staff of Viking Manor Nursing Home – they were devoted caregivers and loving friends who genuinely cared about her whole self. The family would also like to thank Drs. Rolf and Sam Poser, and personal care provider Linda Breuckman for their commitment and dedication to Marlo’s health and well-being in her early years of living with dementia.
