Mary Lavina Ann Rue, 79, died at 3:20 a.m. Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at Jerseyville Manor in Jerseyville, IL. Born July 16, 1944 in Jerseyville, she was the daughter of Robert J. and Mary Lavina (Bechtold) Rue. Mary’s mother passed away while giving birth to Mary’s sister, Helen.
Mary at the age of 14 months old and her newborn sister, Helen, were raised by their aunt and uncle, Helen and Winfred Baugh. She graduated from Jersey Community High School in 1963. Surviving are three sisters, Terrill Woolsey of Laguna Hills, CA, Janis Butler (Randy) of Phoenix, AZ, and Lissa Swan of Dow, IL, two sisters-in-law, Judy Flowers and Pamela Rue, several nieces, nephews and cousins and a life long friend, Cindy Breitweiser and family.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her aunt and uncle, Helen and Winfred Baugh, a stepmother, Geraldine Rue, a sister, Helen E. Crull, two brothers, Gerald Chapman and Robert A. Rue, brothers-in-law, Robert Swan and Rodney Woolsey, nephew, Brian L. Rue. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 20, 2023 at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Beltrees, IL. Reverend Randy Butler will officiate.
