Genevieve Tinkey, 83, died peacefully Tuesday morning at her home in Godfrey.

Born September 14, 1937, in Jerseyville she was the daughter of Dewey and Rita (Murphy) Poore. 

On May 25, 1957, she married Jerald 'Jerry' Tinkey in Hamburg, IL. He survives. 

Mrs. Tinkey was a graduate of Alton Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She retired from Alton Memorial Hospital as an ER nurse after 25 years of service. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, the Alton Community Service League and was an avid golfer. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Along with her husband, she is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela and John Thiel of Des Moines, Iowa and Traci and David Hopkins of Godfrey. Six grandchildren, Faith Robinson (Kip) of Alton, Hank Thiel of Phoenix, AZ, Grace Hopkins of Kansas City, MO, Matthew Hopkins of Little Rock, Arkansas, Joe Thiel of Des Moines, Iowa, and Annie Thiel of Des Moines, Iowa and one great-grandchild, Graham Robinson.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Ronald and Robert Poore and a sister, Patricia Lammy. 

A memorial service will be held at a later date. 

The burial will be at Hamburg Cemetery. 

Memorials may be made to Main Street United Methodist Church or Hamburg Cemetery.
