On January 8, 2020, my best friend, love of my life and amazing husband, Mont Everett Bodine III peacefully passed away in his sleep with his wife by his side.  To say he lived his life his way would be an understatement.  Diagnosed at the age of 7 with Stargardt Disease, aka, Macular Degeneration.  He refused to let that define him.  He graduated high school and joined the Navy in 1963.  After returning home he became a Union Pipefitter.  He was an avid music lover and a loyal Jeopardy fan; he would watch it every single day having only missed four to five questions for the entire week.  The stories he told would entertain everyone that he chose to share them with and boy oh boy did he have some stories.  He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.  Surviving is his wife, Cathy Corby.  Mont was her best friend for 20 years.  Also, surviving are her children, Dave Corby, Brook Davis, and Brian Hackmann, Mont’s children, Flea and Lisa Bodine and his daughter Tracy Bodine Walker, grandchildren, Eli, Star, Emily, Dakotah, Mary, Faith, Dominic and great-grandson, Aydenn as well as three nieces and one nephew.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Mont E. Bodine II and Juanita Bodine, brother, Tim Bodine and Mont’s loyal companion Sherlock.  Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of memorial service at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 13, 2020, at 2nd Chances Community Church in Godfrey followed by burial at 12:30 at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with full military honors.  Pastor Jim Kiel will officiate.  Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Foundation Fighting Blindness, 7168 Columbia Gateway Drive, Suite 100, Columbia, MD 21046.  Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
