Richard L. Pohlman, of Grafton, died April 28th, 2018. He was born in Grafton on July 10, 1932 to Raymond W. Pohlman and Dora Ann Houchins Pohlman, both deceased. He married Patricia A. Taylor Pohlman on November 19, 1955 in Holly Springs, MS. He is survived by his children, Cheryl (Alan) Lee, Carrie (Dave) Hamilton, and Kevin (Gayle) Pohlman and sisters Nancy L. Rauscher of Brighton and Mary E. Bartholomew of Alton. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Tracy, Sarah, Jodi, Neal, Paul, Kacie, Michael, Katelyn, Megann, and Jill, as well as 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Lawrence Pohlman, and great grandsons (twins) Brock and Raymond Hamilton, and Pax Hamilton. He was a very devoted and loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather. His family was his life.
A duck hunter since childhood, he loved to hunt and all things outdoors. He began his working years as a Deckhand on the Hugh C. Blaske boat. He served his country in the U.S Army during the Korean Conflict and is a Lifetime Member of the American Legion Post #648 in Grafton. He also spent time volunteering for the QEM Fire Department and the Grafton Volunteer Emergency Corp. In January, 1992, he retired from Laclede Steel Co., where he worked in the Wire Mill.
As per his wishes, his body was cremated. There will be no visitation, however, there will be an upcoming Celebration of Life, date to be announced.
