Mary Lou Harvey, 88, passed away at 8:05 a.m. Monday, February 26, 2018 at Alton Memorial Hospital.

Born July 23, 1929 in Alton, she was a daughter of Willard J. Young and Helen V. (Almassey) Young Fields.

She married George M. Harvey, Jr. Dec. 3, 1949 in Alton.  He preceded her in death Dec. 28, 2002.

Mary Lou was a legal secretary for Paul L. Pratt, P.C. for 25 years.  She served as Past President for the Madison County Legal Secretaries Assoc.  She was a proud 50-year member of Lovejoy United Presbyterian Church in Wood River, Delta Theta Tau, P.E.O. Chapter F.C., and was known as the “Card Lady” at her church for making cards.

Survivors include a daughter, Valerie (Joe) Freeman of Wood River; a son, George M. (Sylvia) Harvey III of Long Beach, CA; two grandchildren, Joel Freeman of San Antonio, TX and Jordan (Bartosz) Drozd of Chicago, IL; and her beloved dog, Max.

Memorial visitation will be held at Lovejoy United Presbyterian Church in Wood River on Thursday, March 1 from 10 a.m. until memorial services begin at 11 a.m. Rev. Daniel Ervin will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church or to the American Cancer Society.
