Karen L. Cathorall, 73, passed away, on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at Christian Northeast Hospital in St. Louis.
She was born November 26, 1943, in Alton, IL, daughter of the late James O. “Poker” & Alvie L. (Gordon) Jones.
Karen married Henry A. Cathorall on October 7, 1961, in Roxana. He preceded her in death on April 6, 2017.
Karen worked at Union Pacific Railroad as a data entry supervisor for 30+ years retiring in December of 2001. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. Karen loved to go to craft shows, Longaberger basket tours, vacationing with her family throughout the United States and camping with her husband. She enjoyed dancing, bingo, roller skating, knitting, crocheting, word search, watching old movies especially cowboy movies, was a great cook and baker and loved to extremely spoil her grandchildren.
Survivors include two children and their spouses, Hank and Melinda Cathorall of Bethalto, Nichole “Nikki” and John Becker of The Woodlands, TX; four grandchildren, Zac Cathorall, Ian Becker, Samuel “Sam” Becker, Nicholas Becker; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James W. and Mary Lou Jones of Holiday Shores and Gary Joe and Verna Jones of Olathe, KS.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Gordon K. Jones and one sister Patricia Eileen Jones.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am until time of the funeral service at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto with Pastor Mark Hofferber officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
