Joey Kester "Joe" Harpole, 63, passed away 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Christian Hospital-Northeast.
Born in Wood River on 17, 1953, he was the son of Kester W. and Irene L. (Eilers) Harpole.
A U.S. Army veteran, he was a computer programmer for I.B.M. for 20 years before retiring in 2014. He enjoyed his family and friends and spending time in the outdoors.
Surviving are two daughters, Jennifer Owens of Fenton,MO, Jessica Craft of Springfield, IL; six grandchildren, Kaleb and Alicia Pille, Lena, Lyle, Ryea and Nyki Greeling; sister, Janet Blair of Wood River; nieces and nephews, Thomas Haber, Barbara Fidler, Elizabeth McDaniel, Carey Abney, Robert E. Blair; and loving companion Deb Ogle of East Alton and her son, Andy Ogle.
His parents and a sister, Margaret Ann Haber preceded in death.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. john United Church of Christ in Wood River. Rev. Michael Southcombe will officiate.
Burial will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
Memorials may be mase to the Wounded Warriors Program.
