Fred E. Finck, 86, died at 1:28 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at Integrity Healthcare of Godfrey. Born January 1, 1931, in St. Charles County, MO, he was the son of August Henry Finck Sr. and Hulda Carolyn Elise (Greiwe) Finck. Mr. Finck graduated from University of Missouri where he was class president and participated in various school activities. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and the New Horizons Band. He retired as owner/broker of Century 21 House Center. He enjoyed being involved in real estate and land development as well as fishing and wood-working. On July 16, 1966, he married Clare A. (Neunaber) Higgins in Godfrey. She preceded him in death on May 20, 2010. Surviving is a daughter, Casey L. (Finck) Martin of El Dorado, AR, a son, Charlie Finck and his wife of Buffalo, MO, an adopted son, Jess Finck and his wife of Granite City, IL, a daughter-in-law, Debbie Higgins of Brighton, three grandchildren, Amanda Higgins, Kate Finck and Mike Finck, two great grandchildren, twins, Conner and Logan Finck, a brother, A. Henry Finck Jr. and his wife RuthAnn, and a sister, Martha Barklage and her husband Marlin. Along with his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a step-son, Jeff Higgins, a son, Michael Finck, a brother, Norman Finck and sisters, Elsa Borcherding, Alice Spragle Johnson, and Helen Koeller. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Alton. Reverend Randy Fischer will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church or the New Horizons Band and are to be mailed to 920 Milton Road, Alton, IL 62002.
