Luther D. Taylor “Sonny”, of Bunker Hill, passed away, peacefully, at his home surrounded by those he loved, on December 13, 2016, after a long battle with cancer.He was born December 22, 1938, in Jay, Florida, to Ida (Portwood) Taylor and Olivette Taylor. Both preceded him in death.On June 29, 1963, he married Marlene (Courtney) Taylor. She also preceded him in death.Sonny served in the United States Marine Corp. from 1956-1962, both active and reserves. He worked as a pipefitter maintenance man at Granite City Steel and American Steel. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, watching sports, and most of all, spending time with his family.Survivors include his daughter Debbie (Taylor) Beachum and son-in-law Bruce Beachum of Bunker Hill; granddaughters, Courtney (Beachum) Underwood and her husband Jeffery Underwood of Godfrey, Megan Beachum of Bunker Hill; great granddaughter, Paisley Underwood of Godfrey; brothers, Lavon Taylor and his wife Maggie Taylor of Collinsville, Ray Taylor and his wife Kathy Taylor of Atmore, AL; sister, Elizabeth (Taylor) Beasley and her husband Lavon of Milton, FL; and many nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, William (Bud) Taylor, Joyce (Taylor) Rolin of Atmore, AL, Eunice (Taylor) Morgan of AL, and an infant sister, Margaret Taylor.Per Sonny’s request, there will be no funeral or visitation.Family and friends will be notified of a private memorial.Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.He was loved by all who knew him and he will be greatly missed!!!Online guestbook and condolences may be found at www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com
