Nettie E. Smith, 66, passed away at 8:10 pm, Thursday, November 10, 2016, at Alton Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.She was born September 8, 1950, in St. Louis, the daughter of James and Hassie (Hill) Smith.Nettie worked for Owens, Illinois, as a painter for 35 years prior to her retirement in 2007. She enjoyed camping and spending time with her family.Survivors include three siblings and their spouses, Brenda and Ron Schmitz of Dupo, Illinois, Jim and Connie Smith of Moro, Bettie and Mike Rose of Bethalto; five nephews; and three nieces.She was preceded in death by her parents and one niece.Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm on Friday, November 18, 2016, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral home in Bethalto.Service will begin at 10 am, Saturday, November 19, 2016, at the funeral home.Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.Online condolences and guest book may be found at www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com
