Cottage Hills—Bobbie Ray Highsmith, Sr., 79, passed away at 10:20 a.m. Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at his home.

He was born Oct. 26, 1936 in Paris, TX to Benjamin Joseph & Edna M. (Wortham) Highsmith.

He married Laverne Adams on Dec. 23, 1956 in Meadowbrook, IL and she survives in Cottage Hills.

Bobbie retired in 1996 as a foreman from Hutchinson’s Foundry.  He loved to play music and was a good local entertainer for many years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Bobbie R. Highsmith, Jr. of Cottage Hills; 3 grandchildren: Sarah Binder and Bobbie Highsmith III and Phoenix; 3 great-grandchildren: Skyler, Trinity, and Zander;  and siblings: Benny, Jeff, Charlie, Mary Ruth and Sadie Lou.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Kenneth Farley Highsmith; sisters: Betty Lou, Janie & Charlene; and a brother Hubert.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at 1:00 p.m. Mon. Oct. 24, 2016 at Paynic Home for Funerals.  Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
