Yvonne (Mathew) Easley, 91, slipped peacefully into the arms of God at 6:43 p.m., Friday, November 13, 2015 at the home of her daughter in rural Grafton.She was born on the family farm just west of Fidelity in Jersey County, Il. on March 24, 1924, the daughter of Lewis Earl & Laura Edna (Miller) Mathew.Pleasant Hill  Grade School and Bethel Baptist Church were important parts of her life growing up on the farm.On Dec. 17, 1943 at the First Baptist Church in Jerseyville, she married Frederick T. Easley, and she soon saw him off to the Philippines during World War II, and began working at the International Shoe Factory in Jerseyville, awaiting his return.Her life was devoted to her family, caring for elderly members and quietly reaching out to those in need.  Always the school room mother, she was the one working in the background, lending a listening ear to troubled boys, even to the point of opening up her home to care for them.  She supported her husband in his many community and volunteer endeavors and provided a safe and loving home for him and their three daughters.  God blessed Fred and Yvonne with nearly 56 years of marriage before his death on Aug. 3, 1999.She will be greatly missed by her three daughters & sons in law, Joyce & Jerome Sagez of Kane, Pat & Robin Barrows of Buckner, MO., and Debbie & Terry Wedding of Grafton; five grandchildren & their spouses, Stephanie & Rick Ash of Jerseyville, Penny Sagez and her companion, Greg Lael of Jacksonville, Rob Young of Liberty, Mo., Lisa Young, and her companion, Jerry Krull of Prairie Village, Ks., and Hannah & Matt Marshall of Grafton; nine great grandchildren, Laura Ash, Joshua Sagez, Tanner Lael, Ava Young, Tyler Young, Brenden Marshall, Ashlynn Marshall, Jane Wedding and Gabe Wedding.In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a beloved grandson, Mathew Todd Wedding on May 17, 2015; two sisters, Imogene Reid and Maxine Vaughn; and an infant brother, Marvin Mathew.As per her wishes, she will be quietly laid to rest beside her husband, parents and grandson at the Oak Grove Cemetery.  Friends and family are invited to the ceremony which will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, November 16, 2015 conducted by the Rev Brent Meyer.Memorials in her honor may be given to the First Baptist Church in Jerseyville or to the Jerseyville Public Library. Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville is in charge of the arrangements.
