Wilma Sue Downey, 87, died peacefully in her sleep at 8:43 a.m. Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at her home. Born July 7, 1925 in Eldorado, IL, she was the daughter of Everett and Gertrude (House) Pulliam. She married William R. Downey on November 21, 1941 in Cape Girardeau, MO. He preceded her in death on October 15, 1993. Surviving is a daughter, Susan L. Downey of Godfrey, two sons, Ronald Downey (Jean) of Godfrey, and Dennis Downey of Baton Rouge, LA, three grandchildren, Sean Downey (Kelly), Ryan Downey (Kathryn), and Shane Callahan, four great grandchildren, Isabel, Liam, and Collin Downey, and Evan Callahan, a sister, Betty Scoggins of Austin, TX, a half sister, Jane Dailey (Michael) of Frisco, TX, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Barton, and Dorothy Miller. Burial will be private. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
