William T. Broadway

William T. Broadway, 82, passed away at 10:40 pm on Thursday, October 21, 2010 at VIP Manor in Wood River. 

 

He was born on February 22, 1928 in Harrisburg, IL, son of William F. and Anna L. (Drutis) Broadway.

 

He married Betty L. Greenwood on September 15, 1949 in Kane, IL. She survives. 



William was an operating engineer at Owens Illinois Glass in Alton until it closed.  He then went to work at SIUE as a facilities engineer until his retirement in 1998.  He attended the Bethalto United Methodist Church.  He was a member of the Bethalto Masonic Lodge #406.  He enjoyed yard work, gardening, animals, Disney World and was a handy man in general. 

 
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David & Gayla Broadway of St. Charles, MO; a son-in-law, Larry Forehand of Rosewood Heights; four grandchildren and their spouses, Keith Broadway and Kyle & Kristen Broadway, Amy & Andrew Weaver and Julie Forehand; two great grandchildren, Katie & Jake; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Janet Goessman of Sun City, AZ and Barbara & James Witt of Godfrey; a sister-in-law, Bernice Broadway - Broniec of Sun City, AZ and many nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Dorothy Lynn Forehand, two brothers and a sister-in-law, Richard and Darlene Broadway and Harry Broadway. 


In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm on Monday, October 25, 2010 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto with a Masonic service at 6:30 pm.  Funeral services will be at 10 am on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at the funeral home with Pastor John Tennyson officiating.



Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.



Memorials may be made to the Edwardsville Humane Society or Bethalto United Methodist Church Building Fund.
