William Ray Barton, 65, died at 12:37 p.m. Monday, April 11, 2011 at St. Louis University Hospital. Born August 4, 1945 in Alton, he was the son of Norman D. and Edna L. (Summers) Barton. He was a retired auto mechanic and enjoyed camping, fishing, and dog training. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Alton and was devoted to his family.
On October 16, 1992 in Las Vegas, he married the former Janice E. Lambert. She survives. Also surviving are two sons and a daughter, William R. Barton Jr. of Alton, Laurie Kraushaar and her husband Robert of Brighton, and Shane Barton of Alton, three grandchildren, Dustin Kraushaar, Ashley Kraushaar, and Kylie Barton, and his uncle, Raymond Barton of Godfrey. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Leann Barton, and his brother Norman Barton who was killed in action in Vietnam.
A memorial service will be at 5:00 p.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church in Alton. Reverend Andre’ Dobson will officiate.
