William Rainey

William Otis Rainey Jr., 73, of New Douglas, IL, born Monday, November 12, 1951, in Anchorage, AK, passed away Friday, January 10, 2025 at his home in New Douglas, IL.

William worked as a police officer for over 21 years before retiring as the Chief of Police for the New Athens Police Department. He was a member of New Douglas Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time at flea markets to find bargains, loved to travel, and cherished spending time with family and friends. William was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

He was preceded in death by his:

• Son, Donny Bristoe

• Wife, Donna Sue, nee Grueber, Rainey of New Douglas, IL

Memorials: Memorials may be made to the Fisher House Foundation.

Memorial Service: Church service will begin at 10:45 a.m., Sunday, January 19, 2025, at New Douglas Baptist Church, 407 N. First Street, New Douglas, IL 62074 with Rev. Nicholas Martin officiating.

Private family internment at Jefferson Barracks Cemetery at a later date.
