William “Bill” David Myer, 89, passed away at 1:37 a.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at OSF St. Anthony’s Hospital. He was born December 8, 1934 in White Hall, IL, the son of the late Ivan and Nina (Martin) Myer. He worked for many years in the construction industry. On February 2, 1963 in Alton, he married Rita Ursch, and she survives. Also surviving are four sons, Jeff Myer (Mindy) of Alton, Greg Myer (Mary) of Alton, Dave Myer (Nancy) of Bunker Hill and Steve Myer (Dot) formally of Godfrey. Nine grandchildren, Jordan Myer, Miranda Henson (Abram), Megan Del Grego (David) of TX, Greg Myer (Emily) of TX, Brad Myer (Sheridan) of CO, Amanda Laux (Ben) of Bunker Hill, Crystal Myer of Iowa, Steven Myer (Jessie) of Iowa and Colby Myer of Iowa. Ten great grandchildren, Gabriel Henson, Paisley Myer, Kinsley Myer, Penny Myer, Eliana Laux, Maddox Laux, Lena Laux, Kaleigh Scoggins, Victoria Gammaitoni and Tristen Sale and two sisters, Ruth Seymour of Godfrey and Betty Lomelino of White Hall. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by four sisters. A celebration of life will be from 4–8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at the Alton Wood River Sportsman’s Club.
