William L. Mazrum, age 86, passed away at 2:39 am on Thursday September 2, 2010 at his residence in Alton.
He was born on December 25, 1923 in Westville, IL the son of William and Agnes (Budvitas) Mazrum.
He married Ethel Toth on January 8, 1949 in Westville, IL.
He graduated, May 1941 from Westville High School. He was in the Owls 1940-1941 National Honor Society also received the “Best Sportsman Trophy”. William served in the Navy during WWII in the Pacific campaign from 1943 to 1946. He was an avid golfer, bowler and horseshoe player. He coached grade school sports and little league baseball for many years. He was a life member of the Westville American Legion, a life member of the V.F.W. post 1308 in Alton and a member of the Knights of Columbus in Alton.
He is survived by his wife, a son Michael and his spouse Patricia Mazrum, of Wiesbaden, Germany, two nephews James and (Judi) Mazrum of Alpena, MI, John Mazrum of Portland, OR, cousin Ann and (Albert) Traeger of Springfield, IL .
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and twin sisters.
Burial service will be private.
Memorials may be made to St. Anthony’s Adoration or Perpetual Chapels.
